MISSION CALL
July 21st Don and I received our mission call. We were so excited because Don had called the missionary office and they had told us we would have it a week earlier. We decided to call all our children and ask them where they thought we were going . Kimberly was first for obvious reasons and we asked her not to call and talk to her family till we had called each one of them.. Kimberly thought we would go to Maine or New Hampshire. Jennifer was next and she thought we would go to Texas. John and Julaine didn't pick up there phones so Julaine was the first to return our call and she said Washington. Don tried to get her to say something else but she was firm on Washington. John thought we would go out of the country. Happy to say Julaine was right. We are called to the

Movie Date
Don and I decided to see the movie Mirror Mirror in the middle of the afternoon. I had wanted to see it earlier from the Red box but they didn't have it yet but it was playing at the budget at around 5 so we went. I really enjoyed it.

35th Anniversary
This is a special day for Don and me because it is our anniversary and this year we celebrate 35 years of making memories together. Some of the journey has been really hard but some has been absolutely wonderful. I'm so glad to share my life with him. He is amazing in so many ways. He had plans for the day and I was busy working on my lesson for gospel doctrine. In the early evening Don went down to Richardo's pizza to got us one of our favorites. While he was gone I set a pretty table with candles in the family room. I made us some garlic bread and a salad. When he returned we had dinner and talked about some of our favorite memories as we made a few more of our own.

Special Visit from Friends and Family
On Friday July 6th Tom and Donna (Don's sister) were in town from Boulder, Colorado. they came to visit their aging parents. This is just what I took home because it was too much to eat!
Donna and I won 2-1 against our guys. It didn't really matter who won it was just nice spending time together and making memories.
Like I said our friends Mike and Bessie were in Greendale for 5 days and we always like to go to dinner when they are here. So Bessie and I spent the 5th together and we watched a movie while Mike and don went to Mikes family's farm near the Dells. When they got home in the early evening we went out to dinner.
We always have a good time together talking about books we've read or politics and just memories. It was great to have them in town.

Happy Birthday USA
As usual we celebrated the 4th by going to the Greendale parade. Don marched in the parade with his scouts and I went to the parade with Bessie. Mike and Bessie got into town early morning and Don had picked them up at the airport. Mike was also in the parade in a band. It was so hot in the mid 90's that they didn't allow the kids to march or ride their bikes in the parade this year. Too bad because that is my favorite part of the parade. I like to see the children all dressed up in their red white and blue outfits and to see the bikes decorated so nicely. I'm glad our community didn't have them go through the parade they were better off even if they were disappointed.
After the parade I decorated my flag cake. I forgot to take a picture but this looks a lot like mine I made a red velvet cake layer with cream cheese frosting in the middle and a navy blue layer of white cake which I died dark blue the top was real whipping cream with the raspberries and blueberries placed to look like a flag. It was so delicious.
I took my cake the our friends the Davis' because they invited us to come to their house in Racine for a BBQ. The original plan was to play croquette and horse shoes. But the temperature there was 104 so we either sat in the house in the air conditioning or we sat on the patio drinking ice cold water. we still had a great day there despite the heat.
We headed back to Greendale about 6:30 pm so we could make it back for the Fire Works. Don hates missing the Greendale Fire Works because he thinks they are the best. Any way we joined up with our friends Mike and Bessie to watch them together.
